The City approached Icon AV again for their 2022 Melville Midwinter festival. We were tasked with creating a similar atmosphere to the previous years, yet needed to accommodate for the change of artists and schedules. We had to approach small yet high quality intimate spaces with unobtrusive lighting and audio elements.
We were also tasked with lighting areas with the artists vision in mind.
The artists ranged from community poets' spoken word pieces, complex dance routines choreographed for the night, and Aboriginal performances across the distributed site.
Icon AV provided a large range of equipment through each individual performance site. We used a range of QSC boxes, including the QSC K12.2 and the QSC K8s to give small yet punchy sound to all sites that needed it.
We used our fantastic KV2 audio system on the mainstage for the finale performance, which truly brought the night together.
Our use of lighting included Event Lighting battery powered WDMX pars. These were scattered across the site to up light trees, and provide some wayfinding lighting. We used our powerful GrandMA2 Lighting Console with the Swiss WDMX to give us control over all lighting aspects of the site. This meant that we could provide subtle fades; signifying the end of an artists piece, or change to colour of the wayfinding and tree up lights, to keep the event looking dynamic.
The finale performance was lit by our EK lights E-Profile VWs, which provided the punch and the fantastic colour we needed for the outdoor event.
Overall the weather held out for a fantastic evening of performance and dance.
The City complemented Icon AV on their professional conduct and the overall look and feel of the night.
