Council events, festivals & activations

Technical production for WA local government.

ICON AV is a WA technical production company, established in 2015 and operating in Bayswater. We design, supply, install and operate the lighting, audio, vision, staging, rigging and power for local government events, festivals and activations, working alongside your events team.

We've delivered many projects for the Cities of Melville, Cockburn, Joondalup and Fremantle, from community festivals and site-specific activations to theatre seasons in venues with no existing infrastructure. Equipment and crew come from our own inventory, and we service all of WA.

How we work with councils

Planning & documentation

Technical specifications, itemised quotations, and Vectorworks Spotlight site and power plans with 3D previsualisation, plus risk management plans, exclusion zones and certifications, so your team has full visibility and sign-off before bump-in.

Grants, reporting & review

Itemised quotations and invoices structured to support grant budgets and acquittal reporting, and post-event debriefs with your events team covering delivery, any issues and improvements for the next iteration.

Capacity & contingency

Our capacity is from a single venue to multi-site festivals anywhere in WA, with regional freight, travel and accommodation organised. Every event is planned with equipment and crewing contingencies.

Safety, compliance & insurance

We work to the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA), with risk management plans for all activities and documented daily pre-start meetings. Electrical installations meet or exceed AS/NZS 3002:2021, all equipment is tested and tagged in-house by a licensed director, and Form 5 certification is provided by licensed electrical contractors where required. Staging and rigging products carry Australian engineering certification, with independent certification of site-specific structures when needed.

Contact Us
What council events do you provide technical production for?

Local government events, festivals and activations, including community festivals, space activation and placemaking, and theatre in venues with no existing infrastructure. We've delivered projects for the Cities of Melville, Cockburn, Joondalup and Fremantle, including Melville Midwinter every year since 2021.

Do you work with our events team or manage everything?

Both. We provide technical production management from brief to bump-out: scoping and quoting, equipment specification and system design, scheduling, installation, operation and removal. We coordinate all technical services and equipment with your events team, artists and other suppliers.

What planning documentation do you provide?

Technical specifications, itemised quotations, and Vectorworks Spotlight site and power plans with 3D previsualisation, plus risk management plans, exclusion zones and certifications.

Can your quotes support grant applications and acquittals?

Yes. Our itemised quotations and invoices are structured to support grant budgets and acquittal reporting, and we run post-event debriefs with your events team covering delivery, any issues and improvements for the next iteration.

Do you handle generators, pyrotechnics and structural certification?

We coordinate these through licensed specialists: generators and Form 5 electrical certification from licensed electrical contractors, flame pyrotechnics from licensed pyrotechnicians, and independent structural certification. We manage their safety documentation and seek your approval at quotation stage.

What insurance do you hold?

We carry public liability, product liability and professional indemnity insurance, plus workers' compensation.

Do you work outside Perth?

Yes. We service all of WA and organise regional freight, travel and accommodation. Our own inventory and casual crew pool scale from a single venue to multi-site festivals.

Is there anything you don't provide?

We don't provide catering, security, liquor, traffic management or event promotion, but we work alongside the providers you appoint for these.
